The French Revolution was a time in France history that changed the way it worked. During the American Revolution, France supported the United States and fund them. After the war, France was in debt and many people was poor. France funded the United States for Seven year. Since France was in debt, the price of bread went up higher than people, making it harder to survive. At the same time that the price of bread was going up, the people of France had to pay tax. The people were divided into three Estates; the first estates were the Notabilities, and they had to pay no tax. The second estates were made up of the clergy and the church and they had to pay little tax and they last estates were the poor. The estates made up about 97 percent of France's population. Many people were getting angry and people decided to react and attacked the Bastille. Angry mobs attacked the state prison. This event started the French Revolution. The people of France attacked the First and Second Estates. They people of France created the Nation Assembly lead by Maximilian Robespierre. Robespierre wanted to get rid of the nobles. The reign of terror was a blood time in France were anyone that is suspected against the revolution was put to trail and killed. The machine that they used to kill was the Guillotine aka the "Nation Razor". The king of France and his wife were killed by this machine and so was Robespierre himself. As the revolution gets bloody, many people turned against Robespierre and he became a suspect and was wanted. He was caught and executed. The Revolution ended when Napoleon took dictatorship of France. The Revolution led to the end of the Monarchy. The revolution was started in 1789 to 1799.
