THE TENNIS COURT OATH (June 20,1789): AN EVENT DURING THE FIRST DAY OF THE FRENCH REVOLUTION. IT BEGIN ON JUNE 20,1789 WHEN THE DUPLICITIES OF THE THIRD ESTATE FOUND THEMSELVES LOCKED OUT OF THEIR REGULAR MEETING PLACE. THE PEOPLE OF THE THIRD ESTATE MET INSTEAD IN THE NEARBY TENNIS COURTS OF JEU DE PAUME. THEIR GOAL WAS TO MET AT UNTIL THEY HAVE ESTABLISH A NEW CONSTITUTION FOR FRANCE. THE GROUP LATER BEGAN TO CALL THEMSELVES THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
STORMING OF THE BASTILLE (July 14, 1789): On the morning of July 14, 1789, a mob of eight thousand people broke into the Bastille looking for weapons. T The Bastille was a royal armory filled with arms and ammunition and it was also a state prison. For the mobs the Bastille was a glaring symbol of the government's despotic policies. During mob the prison was guarded by marquis de Launay and small garrison of 114 men. The attack on the Bastille being at noon and three hours later Launay and garrison surrendered. They lost ninety-eight of their members. Launay was beaten to death and got his head cut of by the angry mobs and carried it to the street of Paris. When the new was told to King Louis XVI by the duc de la Rochefoucauld-Liancourt, the king exclaimed, "Why, this is a revolt." and the duc replied "No sire, it is a revolution". The fall of the Bastille was first event that started the French Revolution.
Maximilien de Robespierre (1758-1794): A small-town lawyer. He moved to Paris as a member of the Estates-General. Politics was his life, and was dedicated to using power to benefit the people. Member of the Jacobin. Robespierre was dedicated to helping the people, whom he loved in the abstract though not on a one-to-one basis. The became a member of the Committee of Public Safety , formed during the Reign of Terror. He was a powerful speaker. Told the people of France to rise against the aristocracy. The Reign of Terror was the bloodiest time period of the French Revolution. Started in September 1793. During this time, 300,000 people who were suspected enemies of the revolution were arrest and executed by the Guillotine, also known as the National Razor. Robespierre used this killing machine to executed his opponents. One of the people executed by the Guillotine was King Louis XVI. As the war went on and France was feeling safe form the enemy many people started to question Robespierre. Robespierre wanted more bloodshed but the people of France had just enough. In July of 1794, Robespierre and his allies were arrested and taken to prison where he later escape and went into hiding, well he was hiding he became an outlaw of France and tried to commit suicide and failed and was arrested again and sent to prison. Robespierre and his fellow allies were executed the next day by the Guillotine, his killing machine.
